We bought Aaron a present for behaving so well in his latest allergist appointment and generally being a good kid through that entire day. We bought him some convertible in-line skates. There are 3 wheels, one in front and two, side-by-side, in the back. When he is ready, we can move the side-by-side wheels, like regular in-line skates.
Since he had his skates, he wanted either me or Meri to skate with him. I put on my skates and realized it’s been way too long since I’ve done that! It was a lot of fun. It was like riding a bike, I was flying down the alleyway turning and stopping like I used to. In college, I used to skate with a roommate through the parking garage. We used to start at the top of the garage, which was normally empty and fly down the ramps to the subsequent levels, sometimes almost getting hit (or running into) cars. It was a lot of fun. After college, I would go to a bike/skate park the city of Jacksonville set up. They paved over 15 or 16 miles worth of unused railroad tracks and opened it up to the public. I used to go there with my mom maybe once a month or once every other month. It’s been a few years since I used my skates and I will be using them more and more now.
Aaron did really well in his skates. He did a lot better once Meri and I let go of him and let him figure it out on his own. It was a good present I think. He will really enjoy them.
